The lesson that this clip is from (It's called "The Baby Alligator".) is one that I continue to work with 2-3 times a week. Every time I go through these movements, I learn more and more about the different habits and strategies that impact the way I do these movements on each side. And all of these movements inform how I move while I work, while I run, and while I practice Aikido.
- There are over 400 different Awareness Through Movement® lessons with lessons that explore movement in many positions (lying on the stomach, lying on the back, lying on the side, various seated positions, and standing)
- Lessons are typically about 40-50 minutes in length with some exceptions of shorter and longer lessons.
- Movements are done at a level that is comfortable and without pain. This allows the individual to be in a receptive state to experience the unique movements, and to maintain a positive internal learning environment so that the new ways of moving can be meaningful and lead to a change in one's own organization or strategy.
- Lessons are designed to improve movement. This relates to the quality of the movement, the enjoyment of the movement. It also relates to the way we use ourselves in every day life and in the activities and sports that we love to do.
